These days everyone is looking for ways to save money and help the environment. One way to accomplish this is by adding insulation to the attic in your home. Most homes built before the 90’s are under-insulated by today’s codes and standards. Talk to your local insulation provider and schedule someone to look at your existing levels of insulation. They can tell you how much you can save on your energy bills by adding the appropriate levels.

How much insulation is needed in a home, and where should it be installed? Local building codes for your area can tell you where to install the insulation, as well as, how much to install. At a minimum, insulation is placed in the floor of an unfinished attic, in the exterior walls and in the wall between the garage and the living space. It is important to remember to enclose the entire building envelope. If one area is left exposed air can intrude on your heated/cooled living space thus affecting your energy bills.
